A fine fragrance blend

This space exists between two points. A cool glow filters through translucent glass, lit from behind by an unknown source. The icy light diffuses through the backlit floor. A leopard wanders along a distant wall. Not pacing, exactly, but an indication that time continues to pass at an ever-attenuating rate.

The people here are familiar in the way that suggests they have always been here, and you have too. It’s not warm nor cold, and their attire reflects the opposition. The couches are Mylar, the walls are the color of ink, and the decor is both sleek and vivid.

near&never is the manifestation of this space.

It opens cold. Cut rind and black pepper — the sensation of glass, of chrome, of air circulating in a room with no windows. Brief. Almost haunting. Then you are immersed in a scent not from here. Coconut. Not sweet. Not warm. More like the shell in a room, a body at rest. It hangs in the air and stays.

The base never fully surfaces. Labdanum and vetiver move underneath like a faraway memory. The wax and the fragrance become one and the same. You stop trying to separate them.
